Our Mission

Rhema Word Christian Center’s Food Pantry is a ministry dedicated to demonstrating God’s love through service, compassion, and community care. Operating on a bi-weekly distribution schedule, the pantry provides nutritious food and essential items to individuals and families in need throughout our local community, senior citizens, and neighboring counties. In addition to scheduled distributions, RWCC’s Food Pantry is a community resource and offers immediate and emergency services to those in need. RWCC’s Food Pantry also offers overflow item distribution as inventory allows, ensuring that no food goes to waste and every available resource is used to bless others.

Our mission is to strengthen our community by ensuring that no family goes hungry, offering food resources, encouragement and every neighbor we serve.

Our Community

Our primary distribution location is Wilson County NC. We are privileged to serve various demographics throughout Wilson County NC. We are privileged to extend our impact to surrounding the following counties: Edgecombe, Greene, Johnston, Nash, Pitt, Wake & Wayne.

Our pantry has a special focus for our senior community. Seeing a need to assist our senior community, we chose to facilitate the CSFP program which provides a monthly box for approved applicants. No other agency in Wilson County facilitated this program and to our knowledge no other within the county has done so since our involvement with this program which makes this initiative exclusive to Rhema which allows us to provide an additional resource to seniors within our county.

We also participate in the summer feeding program which allows us to provide specific foods to families to assist during the summer months to ensure children have food to eat.

Our Impact

We are privileged to provide food items for over 400 households monthly. With support from our community partners, we are able to increase our impact.

In 2025, we served a total of 3,633 households!

Through faithful service, community partnerships, and the generosity of donors and volunteers, the Rhema Word Christian Center Food Pantry is blessed to be a blessing! Our goal is to strengthen and further our impact yearly.

MEET OUR FOOD PANTRY CORE TEAM

Mrs. Velma Bullock serves a Food Pantry Lead. Mrs. Bullock oversees Rhema’s Food Pantry Operations. Mrs. Bullock manages inventory, organization and outreach aspects for our Food Pantry to ensure efficiency and service in excellence.

Mrs. Brenda Brewington serves as a Food Pantry Co-Lead. Mrs. Brewington oversees on-site operations and volunteers for active distribution.

Mr. Lamont Brewington serves as a Food Pantry Co-lead. Mr. Brewington manages our retail partner pick-ups and upkeep of Food Pantry inventory.

Ms. Layla Dickens manages administrative operations for the Food Pantry, ensuring the organization runs efficiently and remains compliant. Ms. Dickens also coordinates and oversees applications for grants, partnerships and community support initiatives.

Mrs. Brittney Vines oversees financial operations for the Food Pantry, ensuring full compliance by maintaining accurate financial records and timely, compliant monthly and annual reporting.
